Brash Vineyard was established in 1998 as Woodside Valley Estate. While most of the grapes were sold to other Margaret River producers, cabernet sauvignon, shiraz, chardonnay and merlot were made, and in ’09 the Cabernet Sauvignon and the Shiraz earned the winery a 5-star rating. It is now owned by Chris and Anne Carter (managing partners, who live and work onsite), Brian and Anne McGuinness, and Rik and Jenny Nitert. The vineyard is now mature and produces high quality fruit.
About
Brash Vineyard is a small Margaret River producer making small quantities of single vineyard wines from an exceptional site situated in the Yallingup Hills. They now have a complete collection of single vineyard wines: gold medal and trophy winning cabernet sauvignon, shiraz, chardonnay and sauvignon blanc. Only small volumes are released annually under the Brash label. The vineyard produces cabernet sauvignon, shiraz, malbec, chardonnay and sauvignon blanc on the 18 hectares of vines surrounded by natural forest. Historically the property was operated as a fruit supplier to several larger wine operations in the region. A change of ownership within the group led to a name change to Brash Vineyard, and redirection. The goal is now to showcase the high quality of fruit grown, with emphasis on producing estate grown, single vineyard wines under the Brash Vineyard label; and producing high quality grapes that will find their way into premium label wines in Margaret River. Chris and Anne have spent the last seven years working in and on the property – and now live and work there operating an online cellar door – www.brashvineyard.com.au. The vineyard has begun to reach maturity in recent years and is producing A-grade fruit for its buyers, from blocks that boast excellent soil profiles, ideal wind protection and cutting edge viticulture practices.
