Owned by Ferngrove since 2008, Killerby was relaunched, opening its architect-designed ‘Cellar Store' (with one of the longest tasting benches in Australia) in '13. With a variety of local produce available, it pays homage to the history of the Killerby family (in the late 1930s Benjamin George Lee Killerby established a general store to supply the region, while grandson Benjamin Barry Killerby planted one of the first vineyards in Geographe in '73). Exports to the UK.
In the late 1930s, Benjamin George Lee Killerby established a general store in Margaret River to supply the early pioneers in South Western Australia. In 1973, his grandson, Dr Benjamin Barry Killerby, established one of the first vineyards in the Geographe region.
Since its establishment in 1973, Killerby has grown to be one of Western Australia's leading small wineries, with a reputation for producing an outstanding range of varietal wines, namely Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Shiraz and Semillon. The cellar door is situated in the world famous Margaret River region of Western Australia, about 2½ hours drive south from Perth. The region is indebted to the dedicated and passionate wine lovers who laid the foundation for what is today one of the greatest wine producing areas in Australia and indeed the world.
Killerby maintains its small winery essence with most of its winemaking techniques and philosophies remaining the same since it was first established. The vines are hand pruned; select parcels of fruit are partially handpicked; the wine is made using small batch techniques; highest quality French oak barrels and meticulous attention to winemaking detail.
