Judith and Gary Berson have set their sights high. They established their vineyard without irrigation, emulating those of the Margaret River pioneers (including Moss Wood). The fully mature plantings comprise 4.2ha chardonnay and 0.5ha of pinot noir, the remainder Bordeaux varieties, with cabernet sauvignon (6.2ha), cabernet franc (0.5ha), malbec (0.8ha) and petit verdot (0.7ha). The cellar door overlooks the 20+-year-old vineyard.
Located north of Margaret River township, Victory Point vineyard was established in 1998 by the Berson family and has never been irrigated.
The vines have been hand nurtured through the establishing years and are now producing extremely high quality fruit which truly reflects the vintage and site conditions each year.
The picturesque site is divided by a permanent creek and produces the chardonnay grapes on the north facing slope and the cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, malbec and petit verdot varieties opposite, where the soil structure is completely different, offering the gravelly loam soils required.
Wines are made under contract by Mark Messenger, and matured in French oak barriques.
