The Hogan family have 5 generations of WA history and family interests in sheep grazing and forestry in the Great Southern, dating back to the 1860s. Terry Hogan AM (1939–2018), founding Xabregas chairman, felt the Mount Barker region was ‘far too good a dirt to waste on blue gums’, and vines were planted in 1996. The Hogan family concentrates on the region’s strengths – shiraz and riesling. Exports to China.
The Hogan family with a history of five generations residing in Western Australian carefully selected the Mount Barker sub region in 1996 for it proven ability to produce cool climate wines of finesse and elegance. The focus is to bring the unique expression of the vineyards from one of the coldest regions in Australia to the fore with every bottle of wine coming from the estate
