Millbrook Winery

Western Australia | Perth Hills

James' Review

Millbrook is situated in the historic town of Jarrahdale, south-east of Perth. Located at the picturesque Chestnut Farm, the property backs on to the Serpentine River and is nestled among jarrah forests. Chestnut Farm dates back to the 19th century, when the original owner planted an orchard and grapevines in 1865, providing fruit to the local timber-millers in Jarrahdale. In 1996, Chestnut Farm and Millbrook Winery were bought by Peter and Lee Fogarty, marking the family's first entry into the wine business, and together with their children John, Mark and Anna, planted the vineyard. In 2001a state-of-the-art winery was completed, also home to a restaurant. In addition to the 8ha estate, Millbrook draws on vineyards in prime locations across WA, sourcing sauvignon blanc, vermentino, chardonnay, tempranillo, grenache, mourvedre and pedro ximenez. Exports to Germany, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore, China and Japan.

Millbrook is an award-winning winery and restaurant situated in the historic town of Jarrahdale in Western Australia, 50 minutes south-east of Perth. The winery is located at picturesque Chestnut Farm nestled among virgin jarrah forests, with stunning vistas of the rolling landscape.

The origins of Chestnut Farm date back to the nineteenth century when the original owner, Joseph Batt, planted an orchard and the first grapevines in 1860, providing fruit and a few headaches to the local timber-millers in Jarrahdale.

Today, Chestnut Farm and Millbrook Winery, comprising 120 hectares (300 acres), are owned by Peter and Lee Fogarty.

In addition to the vines which line the steep slopes, the property still incorporates an active orchard, as well as a heirloom vegetable garden, olive grove and sparkling lakes.

The name Millbrook was derived from the timber-milling history of Jarrahdale and the Gooralong Brook which is a feature of the town.

Millbrook Winery, together with the iconic Lake's Folly vineyard in the Hunter Valley, New South Wales; Deep Woods Estate in Margaret River, Western Australia; and Smithbrook Wines in Pemberton, Western Australia; forms part of the Fogarty Wine Group.
