Once known for big, bold reds, the New South Wales Mudgee wine region has evolved, now offering innovative varietals and world-class riesling. It’s the warm days and cool nights, as well as the gravelly ironstone and quartz-laced red loam soils that create quintessentially Mudgee wines.
2021 Robert Stein Dry RieslingBright and zesty, with pome fruit flavours and elegant riesling florals, the palate is crisp, tangy and driven with a high natural acidity. Pairs beautifully with a platter of freshly shucked oysters or a rich triple cream brie with crusty bread.
Chief winemaker and director Jacob Stein says: “The 2021 Dry Riesling had big shoes to fill after the very successful string of the previous 13 vintages. This wine lives up to its reputation as a cult NSW Riesling and is drinking beautifully now, but will also age gracefully for 10 years with ease.”

2019 Logan Ridge of Tears ‘Mudgee’ Shiraz 564MSavoury and fruity flavours meld, hinting at fennel, dried herbs, cinnamon and pepper. With textured and layered tannins that linger long, it’s moody yet bright, imparting dark cherry, red and black berries, and even a little gamey beef stock character. Slow-cooked lamb will complement this drop, especially during the festive season.
Winemaker Peter Logan says: “Ridge of Tears translates in Scottish-Gallic to Druim nan deur, which was the clan war cry of my ancestors. This is a special wine, with family at its heart.”
