With 26% of the 2017 crush made up of shiraz, it was another stellar year for this perennially popular varietal. The price per tonne of shiraz was also up from the 2016 crush. In total, 78 shiraz were awarded with scores above 97 points in this year’s Halliday Wine Companion. In true form, Barossa leads the pack, with Clare Valley, Grampians and Yarra Valley also featuring.
