Top 100 Best Australian Wines
After months of intensive tasting, James Halliday released his 2017 Top 100 Wines in November 2017 for you to hunt down and try.
Selected from more than 1000 submissions, this list celebrates some of the nation’s best red, white and sparkling wines, plus a few of James’ favourite Champagnes.
The diversity of Australian wine is well represented here, running the gamut from refreshing sparklings to collectable reds. Starting at $13 and rising to $450, you’ll find something for every budget and occasion. Grab a selection of great value drops for entertaining a crowd, or invest in a special bottle for the cellar.
Shiraz and chardonnay once again make up the lion’s share of the red and white wines respectively, followed by cabernet sauvignon and its friends. According to James, however, riesling is enjoying a renaissance, and pinot noir and rosé are showing increased strength in volume and quality.
