La Bise

Named for the southerly wind that blows across Burgundy, La Bise is 1 of 2 side projects for Natasha Mooney, a well-known and highly talented winemaker whose ‘day job’ (her term) is in winemaking consultancy for some of SA’s larger wineries. This allows her to find small, unique parcels of grapes that might otherwise be blended into large-volume brands. She manages the arrangements so there is no conflict of interest, making wines that are about fruit and vineyard expression. She aims for mouthfeel and drinkability without high alcohol, and for that, she should be loudly applauded. -HALLIDAY TEAM
