Black Spade Wines

South Australia | Barossa Valley

Our Review

Black Spade Wines is the venture of Paul Judd, who has a micro-vineyard of 0.5ha of cabernet sauvignon and mourvedre, supplemented by small quantities of shiraz purchased from Barossa growers. The idea of making wine came from experience working with Bethany Wines and Rusden in the Barossa Valley, and Clos Du Bois in California although in no sense is this Judd's full-time occupation. A self-confessed card addict, even to the extent of games being played as the grapes go through the press, led to the adoption of the Black Spade name and wine label logo. -JAMES HALLIDAY
