First Drop Wines

South Australia | Barossa Valley

Our Review

The First Drop Wines of today has been transformed since its establishment in 2005. It now has its own winery, part of the old Penfolds winery at Nuriootpa. The group of buildings is called Beckwith Park in honour of the man who did so much groundbreaking work for Penfolds: Ray Beckwith OAM, recipient of the Maurice O’Shea Award, who died in ’12, but not before his 100th birthday. The quality of the First Drop wines would have made Ray Beckwith smile in appreciation. Exports to the UK, the US, Canada, Denmark, Japan, Hong Kong and China.

About

First Drop was born in 2004 with a desire to make wines to drink, not just appreciate. Since its inception, First Drop has been recognised and awarded for innovative winemaking and pushing the boundaries of packaging and promotion. Indeed, they led the revolution in wine packaging design in Australia, bringing personality and humour to the industry for the first time. Driven by the hugely popular ‘Mother’s Milk’ Barossa Shiraz and supported by a number of crowd-pleasing wines, the First Drop style has universal appeal. The reputation of the winery has been further reinforced by the consistent accolades bestowed across the range, including the ‘pinnacle wines’ – ‘Fat of the Land’ and ‘The Cream’ Barossa Valley Shiraz.
