maker, Michael John Corbett, draws on established sources across South Australia to craft a delicious swag of Mediterranean-inspired wines of textural intrigue. A card of neutral wood, ambient ferments and plenty of whole-bunch is dealt with a deft hand. The results, often compelling. Corbett’s opus is grenache, specifically Blewitt Springs grenache, hewn of the region’s low-yielding elevated old vineyards. His ripeness barometer challenges notions of what is optimal, flirting with marginal levels of alcohol on the lower side. Quantities are small, selling out fast.
