James' Review

David and Diana Palmer have fully capitalised on the exceptional fruit quality of the Skillogalee vineyards. All the wines are generous and full-flavoured, particularly the reds. In 2002 the Palmers purchased next-door neighbour Waninga Vineyards, with 30ha of 30-year- old vines, allowing an increase in production without any change in quality or style. Exports to the UK, Denmark, Switzerland, Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore.

Head Chef Nicola Palmer took over in the kitchen in 2012 but learnt her love for food and cooking from her mother Diana who started the Restaurant. Situated in the 1853 stone cottage along with the cellar door, visitors can sit on the verandah overlooking the vines for breakfast or while combining a leisurely lunch with wine tastings.

Skillogalee offers a range of self-catering Bed and Breakfast Accommodation venues set in the vineyards.
The star of the range is Skillogalee House, a beautiful stone 3 bedroom house situated next to one of the vineyard dams and surrounded by vineyards.

Skillogalee Winery to Host The Metropolitan Orchestra Players along with an International Jazz Artist in October Principal players of The Metropolitan Orchestra (TMO) hailing from Sydney, along with international jazz sensation Josh Kyle, will join award-winning boutique winery Skillogalee in a first for the Clare Valley region when they present an evening of matched music, food and wine under the stars on October 29th, 2016. In what is being tipped as a truly unique musical and culinary experience, Skillogalee Owner and Wine maker Dave Palmer, Head Chef Nicola Palmer and TMO Artistic Director and Chief Conductor Sarah-Grace Williams have worked together to create a mouthwatering combination of fine food and wine, all coupled with equally stunning music. Set under the stars, on the lawns next to Skillogalee House amongst the picturesque wooded hills and vineyards, the stylish evening will deliver a true feast for all the senses with music including intimate chamber pieces through to sophisticated jazz classics. “We’re absolutely thrilled to not only showcase the amazing talent of the principal players from TMO, but enjoy them in performance alongside one of Australia’s most promising jazz artists in Josh Kyle. An integral part of the evening will be our first-class food served alongside our range of award winning wines. All of this to be enjoyed out in the open air, under our star-studded night skies which can be very special in the Clare Valley at this time of year” said Dave Palmer. Presented in three courses, the evening will include entrées served with a wind trio, a main course with string quintet and luxurious desserts served on a bed of lavish jazz and orchestral ensemble. “We so enjoy performing under the stars and have a long and very romantic history with Skillogalee Winery. TMO is proud to share such a fine evening of music, food and wine in what is an equally stunning outdoor venue. This night promises to be one of those rare occasions that guests and performers will never forget,” says Sarah-Grace Williams, Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of TMO.
