Our Review
In 1996 Simon Sorby Adams purchased a 3.2ha vineyard that had been planted by Pastor Franz Julius Lehmann (none other than Peter Lehmann’s father) in 1932. Peter Lehmann always referred to it as ‘Dad’s Block’. Simon added 0.25ha of viognier, which, as one might expect, is used in a shiraz viognier blend. Most recent plantings are of shiraz, riesling, cabernet sauvignon and traminer. Nonetheless, the top red wines, The Family Shiraz and The Thing Shiraz, need no assistance from viognier. Simon also purchased the Jellicoe Vineyard at Mt McKenzie in 2006. Exports to the UK, Germany, Sweden, Singapore, Hong Kong and China.
