About
Limestone Coast Wine Regions
The diverse Limestone Coast in South Australia comprises a number of stellar wine regions, with Coonawarra the jewel in the crown. The area also encompasses Padthaway, Mount Benson, Robe and Mount Gambier, which are each home to a range of wine producers capitalising on the area’s quality fruit.
Coonawarra is synonymous with savoury, elegant and concentrated cabernet sauvignon, but its excellent shiraz is often overlooked. The wider Limestone Coast zone produces diverse expressions of a range of varieties, including shiraz, merlot, cabernet sauvignon and chardonnay. Each of these regions is home to quality vine material and vibrant fruit.
In addition to a flourishing wine and food scene, the Limestone Coast offers stunning coastal views, forests and caves to explore. Relax on idyllic beaches or take a tour to explore shipwrecks dotted around the coast.
