Haddow + Dineen

Tasmania | Tasmania

Our Review

This is a collaborative winemaking project involving winemaker Jeremy Dineen and cheesemaker Nick Haddow. Jeremy has been the Chief Winemaker for Josef Chromy since 2005, his knowledge and skill self-evident. Nick Haddow is a unique phenomenon. He travels the world amassing exceptional knowledge about cheese, gaining unsurpassed international recognition. Since 1995 he has received 10 grants, many substantial, and (by coincidence) 10 significant awards. Haddow + Dineen has a single vineyard at the mouth of the Tamar River with 1.6ha of pinot noir and 1ha of pinot gris. Their wines have no additions other than a small amount of SO2, and are not fined or filtered. Moreover, each barrel is bottled as is, with no blending. They say, ‘We value maximum consideration over minimum intervention … for every wine there are a thousand choices [that could be made] or simply employ vigilant inaction.'
