Golden Ball

The Original Vineyard is on one of the original land grants in the Beechworth region, planted by James McLaurin in 1996, mainly to chardonnay, shiraz (in '13 grafted to chardonnay), cabernet sauvignon, merlot and malbec; with lesser plantings of petit verdot, sagrantino and savagnin. The Lineage Vineyard was planted in ’08 to shiraz, followed by lesser plantings of petit verdot, sagrantino and savagnin. No insecticides are used, only copper, sulphur, milk and oil as foilage sprays. The wines are aged in 33% new French oak, the remainder 2–4 years old. The low yields result in intensely flavoured wines, which are found in Melbourne’s best restaurants and a handful of local Melbourne retailers. Exports to Singapore. -JAMES HALLIDAY
