Madman's Gully

Victoria | Beechworth

Our Review

The name Madman’s Gully is attributed to the antics of a naked Scotsman protecting his claim on the 1850s goldfields, which produced much of the riches on which Beechworth was built. Fiona Wigg has a background in agricultural science, accumulating many years of practical experience as a viticulturist. During Fiona’s time as a vineyard manager at Seppelt Great Western she developed an interest in elegant, cool-climate shiraz, which led to the search for a suitable vineyard site of her own. With husband Ross she established a small patch of shiraz vines in ‘09 on the edge of the old Madman’s Gully goldfield above Beechworth. -JENI PORT
