Wolseley Wines

Will Wolseley grew up in Somerset, England, and from an early age made blackberry wine at home. He came to Australia in 1986 and enrolled in wine science at CSU, gathering vintage experience at various wineries over the next five years. A two-year search for an ideal vineyard site resulted in the acquisition of property on the gently sloping hills of Paraparap, inland from Bells Beach, Torquay. He established 6.5ha of pinot noir, cabernet sauvignon, chardonnay, shiraz, cabernet franc and semillon. Hail storms, frost and drought delayed the first commercial vintage, but the solar-powered winery is now in full production. -JAMES HALLIDAY
