Devil's Cave Vineyard

Victoria | Heathcote

Our Review

This is an acorn and oak story. After retiring from 40+ years of business in Heathcote, Steve and Gay Johnson purchased a property to enjoy their retirement. In '10, they planted 0.4ha of shiraz, and in ’12 Steve asked Luke Lomax (his niece’s husband and a winemaker at Yabby Lake and Heathcote Estate) to help with the first vintage of 33 dozen bottles. The camaraderie was such that the Johnsons formed a partnership with Luke and Jade Lomax, and it’s been onwards and upwards since, with an impressive collection of gold and silver medals for the Shiraz. The winery’s name comes from an adjacent cave known locally as the Devil’s Cave. Exports to Thailand. -JAMES HALLIDAY
