James' Review

The Hunter family – parents Linda and Tony at the head, and their children Mark and Jodi, with their respective partners Melissa and Brett – have 20ha of shiraz, with a ‘fruit salad block’ of chardonnay, viognier, merlot, tempranillo, petit verdot, cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc. Low-yielding vines and the magic of the Heathcote region have produced Shiraz of exceptional intensity, which has received rave reviews in the US, and led to the ‘sold out’ sign being posted almost immediately upon release. With the ever-expanding vineyard, Mark has become full-time vigneron and winemaker, and Jodi has taken over from her father as CEO and general manager. Exports to Singapore and China.

About

The Hunter family comprising of parents Linda and Tony and their children Mark and Jodi, with their respective partners Melissa and Brett began establishing the vineyard in 1997. It has grown to 21ha of shiraz, with token plantings of chardonnay, viognier, merlot, tempranillo, petit verdot, cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc. With the ever-expanding vineyard, Mark has become full-time vigneron and winemaker, Jodi full-time CEO and Melissa part time CFO.

Low-yielding vines and the magic of the Heathcote region have produced shiraz of exceptional quality, prompting rave reviews locally and abroad and leading to the ‘sold out’ sign being posted quickly upon release. Sanguine’s shiraz has been awarded the Heathcote Wine Show’s Grand Terroir Trophy 4 years in a row (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016) identifying Sanguine as the producer of the highest quality and style consistency of Heathcote shiraz across 3 vintages spanning a minimum of 6 years for one singular wine label i.e. wines of provenance.

Being a fully integrated wine business Sanguine prides itself on being able to maintain quality and consistency across all facets of its business.

The annual Sanguine Estate Chamber Music Festival held over 3 days in April is a highlight in the Heathcote calendar and the reason Sanguine was a finalist in the RACV Victorian Tourism Awards.
