Granite Hills is one of the enduring classics, pioneering the successful growing of riesling and shiraz in an uncompromisingly cool climate. It is based on riesling, chardonnay, shiraz, cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, merlot and pinot noir (the last also used in its sparkling wine). The Rieslings age superbly, and the Shiraz was the forerunner of the cool climate school in Australia. Unfortunately wines were not received for the 2020 Wine Companion, the winery rating has been retained. Exports to Japan and China.
This family owned vineyard and winery is situated on the North Eastern aspect of the Macedon Ranges Wine Region, 85 km North of Melbourne in the state of Victoria, Australia. Perched atop the spectacular boulder strewn hills of the Great Dividing Range at an altitude 550 meters, the view over Granite Hills vineyard and of central Victoria beyond, immediately gives you the impression of something quite special. Trail blazers of viticulture and winemaking in what is statistically Australia’s coolest wine region, Granite Hills has celebrated success way beyond its size, winning more than 500 awards in Australian and International competitions.
