Our Review

After 20 successful years in hospitality operating several cafes and restaurants (including one of Melbourne's first ‘gastro-pubs' in the early 1990s), brothers Michael and Tony Lee planted their first vineyard in '97 at Merricks North. The venture takes its name from the tale of two fox hunters in the '30s hanging the results of their day's shooting in opposite branches of an ancient eucalypt, using the tree as their scorecard. Michael and Tony also manage the former Massoni Vineyard at Red Hill established by Ian Home, planting more chardonnay and pinot noir and opening their cellar door. Michael makes the sparkling wines, Tony (a qualified chef) makes the table wines and also cooks for the cellar door kitchen.
