Flowstone is the venture of Stuart Pym and Phil Giglia. Stuart's involvement with wine commenced in 1983, when he moved to Margaret River to help his parents establish their vineyard and winery in Wilyabrup (since sold). Lengthy winemaking careers at Voyager Estate (1991-2000), Devil's Lair ('00-'08) and Stella Bella ('08-'13) were rounded out with concurrent vintage work overseas. Phil is a self-confessed wine tragic, his fascination starting at the University of WA's Wine Club. The two met at a Margaret River Great Estates lunch in the late '90s, and hatched the idea of starting a small business, which took shape in '03 when the property was purchased. 0.5ha of chardonnay was planted the following year, the remainder in '09. Estate grapes are augmented by contract-grown grapes. The attention to detail of the venture is typified by the appeal of the label design, the labels themselves made from 81% limestone, the remainder bonding resin (there is no wood fibre or pulp). Exports to the UK.
