Bellingham Estate

Victoria | Mornington Peninsula

Our Review

When Ian Bellingham bought his Arthur’s Seat property in '07, planted to 1.5ha of pinot noir, he naively thought an hour or so of work each weekend would be enough. As is so often the case, the vines and subsequent wine took over his life. With a background in aeronautical maintenance, Ian left that business behind to devote to grape growing. His east-west planted site, quite high by peninsula standards at 220m above sea level, was initially planted about 30 years ago. Ian spent the first few years reworking the vineyards to an exacting standard, eschewing herbicides and pesticides. He sources chardonnay from a Main Ridge property and until recently sourced pinot gris, too. Wines are made by Richard McIntyre and Jeremy Magyar at Moorooduc Estate. -JANE FAULKNER
